Any articles about that trend Craig?

Many. I teach the stuff. I’ll email you something on it when I dig it out.

But mainly the future is more of the same – books and screenwork crafted by talent.

Hi everyone. I have found the last two exercises to be time-consuming to the point it’s interfering with my writing. Granted I’ve been on the road for almost a month.

My advice to you Mary Kathleen would be to not do the exercises that are taking energy away from the main work. If it don’t help, don’t do it!

Whew! Hate to be made redundant by an algorithm so soon into a new vocation.                   Yes please do send. I love, and it’s vital, to keep informed about industry trends.

No, not going to be made redundant. Just a new tool of expression – like the alphabet or a pen or a film camera. Enabling technology allowing the deviser of the algorithm to express themselves through it.

And we are miles away yet. This is a recent piece of algo-narrative. It’s weird and awful, if compelling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY7x2Ihqjmc

Ha ha. Weird, right. Kind of compelling though. Has a unique tone. Love how the actors try to inflict sense on the gibberish.

Yeah for sure. Stick Tom Hardy in the hot seat though and it’d win something at Cannes.

I have a question for Amanda… forward looking to relationships in module 4 are there any recommended readings on the subject you may suggest? Given more free time during holidays for some, we can use the time to write and read ahead a bit, I thought.

I thnk Amanda has lost her signal to the storm. I’m sure she’ll check back and answer that soon as she gets signal.

Sorry Judy the storm blew my signal away and then I was on holiday until today. All of Craig’s recommendations are excellent.

Any more questions? Happy to stay a while and talk if there are. If not, I’ll go put my daughters to bed.

Anyone help Mary Kathleen with advice on the weight of the exercises?

Just as a data point, I’ve put them off in favour of working on the novel…

Oh! One small ask. I posted a 2K excerpt on the Active Feedback Group but see no one has been in the portal for a while. If anyone happens to log on sometime, and is open to providing feedback, I would be most grateful. 🙏

    Hey all,

Further to my comment about characterization examples from modern sources like Netflix …

Writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien (creators of the show Billions) research and write dialogue with such rich imagery and jaw dropping tactlessness.

If you’ve not yet watched, rather heard, the show Billions then read this and listen to the clip.   Be forewarned it may insult your morals.                       https://www.vulture.com/2019/04/how-to-talk-like-billions.html
